‘The X Factor’ judge Simon Cowell, contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar, and
judge Britney Spears attend the season finale news conference on Dec.
17. Cowell wanted "crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney," one source
reportedly said.
Britney Spears
has been for months exhibiting signs of her old, not-so-stable behavior
behind the scenes at "The X Factor" and during a commercial she filmed
for her new perfume, Fantasy Twist.
"She acts like she has a different contract than everyone else," a
source tells Confidenti@l. "She shows up late, she wanders around
aimlessly and she is in her own world. She wasn't ready for this
responsibility."
The source adds that the "Toxic" singer, who earned $15 million for her
single-season run as a talent judge, reportedly let down her boss, Simon Cowell. He expected Spears, who's on the verge of being canned, to draw huge ratings for his show, which debuted in the fall of 2011.
Spears seemed to begin spiraling downward — but not yet close to her
infamous 2007 head-shaving night — months ago on the set of her perfume
ad, where the source said she had a series of bizarre requests for the
theme of the shoot.
"First, she wanted the producers to fly Vanilla Ice in
to duet with her, which was just weird. They called him and he wanted
$500,000, so that wasn't going to work," says the source. "Then, she
demanded that exotic animals be flown in to be in the video and they had
to tell her that that wasn't going to work for legal reasons and
insurance reasons. She wanted to do her own makeup and when she would
get it done, she would just mess it up on top of what they did."
What seemed to be holding the pop star together for some time was her on-again, off-again fiancé Jason Trawick,
41, who put a ring on it one year ago after dating for over three
years. But that relationship seems to have cooled, and the duo have
failed to set a wedding date.
Spears' most recent hiccup was when she showed up to an "X Factor"
press conference on Dec. 17 looking like her old self: disheveled.
A rep for Spears did not get back to Confidenti@l by deadline.
Sofia's fiancé a real buzzkill
Bombshell actress Sofia Vergara hurled curses at her short-fused fiancé at a New Year's Eve bash when he got booted from a Miami nightclub for bad behavior.
But the curvy "Modern Family" star later posted a Twitter photo of lover Nick Loeb with her mother, hinting at a New Year's Day reconciliation.

Sofia Vergara strikes a sexy pose as she welcomed in the new year at Delano's poolside bash.
After hosting a swanky party at the Delano Hotel where she counted down
the New Year in Spanish, Vegara and her guests headed to the nearby
Story nightclub around 1:30am. By 3 am, the New Year took a foul turn
causing guards at that club to haul Loeb away from the VIP section.
According to a partygoer there, the trouble started after Loeb flipped
out on a male guest who’d knocked into Vergara.
"A dude bumped into Sofia and she spilled her drink all over," the eyewitness dished.
"Nick got upset at the guy and was trying to get him to say sorry to
Sofia — and she was screaming at him to stop causing a scene because
they were in public."
The comely Colombian and her mate then began to bicker, and Loeb blew
his top at Vergara after she agreed to take a flirty photo with the same
guest who bumped her, the source said.
When the spat escalated, muscle-bound guards removed Loeb while Vergara yelled "F--- you!" at him, the witness said.
The drama unfolded just a few hours after Vergara and her future
husband shared a romantic kiss as the clock struck midnight. Apparently,
all was well in paradise again Tuesday night, when Loeb beamed in a
photo Vergara tweeted with the caption: "Chinese food night in Miami!"
Real Housedog: Spaghetti, set, go!
Her "Vanderpump Rules" spinoff reality show doesn't air until Monday, yet Lisa Vanderpump's
career has already gone to the dogs. Confidenti@l has the first photos
of InTouch magazine's "Lady and the Tramp"-inspired shoot with the "Real
Housewife" of Beverly Hills and her dog Giggy. In the mag, which hits
newsstands Wednesday, Vanderpump assures fans she's still an RHOBH and
says "being an actual housewife has always been my life's ambition."
Rodman ‘out of it' at gay club
Cross-dressing, NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman made
quite a spectacle when he strolled into the gay club Swinging Richards
in North Miami over the weekend looking not so great. "He looked out of
it," said a fellow partygoer. The club promotes itself as "all male, all
nude, all night." Before retiring in 2006, Rodman, now 51, was as well
known for his crazy on-and-off-court antics as he was for his five
championship rings.
Check out the skinny on Karina
There's only room for one Skinnygirl! "Dancing With the Stars" hottie Karina Smirnoff
hit Harry Morton's Pink Taco Century City in L.A. for an early birthday
celebration with friends and family over the weekend, where she was
overheard renaming her Skinnygirl margarita "The Karina." She was also
calorie-counting, ordering a protein-filled meal.
Gaga gains some brain power
Lady Gaga has brought Yale researcher Marc Brackett
onto her anti-bullying campaign. Got a problem with that? The New Haven
Register reported on Monday that the Connecticut resident has signed
onto the seven-person board of Gaga's Born This Way Foundation. Bullies
beware – in case brains aren't enough, Brackett's Wikipedia page says he
also holds a fifth-degree black belt in martial arts. Lady Gaga just
announced that fans at her upcoming concerts will have access to on-site
counselors.
‘Shark' bite on the has-beens
With 2012 in the rear view mirror we turned to Howard Stern producer and author Jon Hein,
the man who literally wrote the book on "Jumping the Shark," to ask who
and what passed its expiration date in 2012. Among those things Hein
lists are Mitt Romney, Clint Eastwood, Netflix, Instagram and the
National Hockey League, which he calls "A league that simply cannot
afford to have a lockout." Hein also cuts Dirty Harry some slack for his
odd chair speech, saying "he's earned the right to jump at this point."
YOLO?! Yo, No, Drake
According to the 38th annual "List of Words to be Banished from the
Queen's English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness," YOLO is
out. If so, it may cost Drake a fortune. Last week, the
singer posted on Instagram that companies using the uibiquitous
abbreviation for "you only live once" in their ads should pay him for
popularizing the motto on his 2011 album "Take Care."
Singer's glory of Vanderbilt
Dance music singer Consuelo Costin broke in the new
year by performing under what she says is her famous (secret) name —
Vanderbilt. Before being introduced onstage as a Vanderbilt for the
first time at XL nightclub, the singer who claims to be eight
generations removed from Cornelius Vanderbilt told Confidenti@l she was
first inspired to use the family name after her great grandmother, for
whom she says she was named, died at 107 in 2011.
Backstreeter keeps it light
Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough knocked back a few after
his boy, er, man band wrapped up a show at MGM Foxwoods, but still
watched his weight. "He drank Grey Goose, sugar-free Red Bull and Coors
Light," said a source at the resort's Shrine nightclub. "He said the
light beer was to keep his ‘slim figure.'" Band mate A.J. McLean
— who's reportedly struggled with sobriety — joined Dorough at the
afterparty where our spy says Dorough drank a few shots and the boys
sprayed each other with the bar's C02 gun.
Rosie's un-hearty meal
Rosie O'Donnell chowed down with her hot new wife Michelle Rounds
and four kids this week at Rosa Mexicano on Lincoln Road in Miami. The
comedian, who suffered a heart attack last year and vowed to change hear
eating habits to be more health concious, seemed to drop her promise
for the meal. "There was no healhty food in sight," says an eyewitness.
Perhaps she'll stick to it in the New Year?
