Fancy buying a future Museum for Kate Middleton? (That IS planning ahead)
Kate Middleton’s childhood home, where she spent the first 13 years of her life, is to be sold at auction in June, when the sellers will hope to capitalise on Royal wedding fever.
The four-bedroomed property in the village of Bradfield Southend, Berks., is one of the key sights on bus tours of “Middleton Country” which have attracted tourists from all over the world since Miss Middleton’s engagement to Prince William was announced last year.
The semi-detached Victorian villa would be a perfect place for one of the country’s more fanatical royal souvenir collectors to display their mementoes, while its royal connection would also make it ideal as a premium price holiday let. It is currently leased to tenants, but the owners have decided now is the right time to sell up.
Dudley Singleton, the auctioneer handling the sale in Pangbourne on May 31, said: “It’s always possible that someone will buy it as an investment, because if Kate becomes queen someone might even want to open it as a museum one day and charge people to see it.
“There’s also a chance that someone could look to buy it as a holiday let, but if it sells to someone who just wants it as their home I’m not sure the royal connection will attract a huge premium.
